Abstract
The purpose of this study is to compare Germany and Turkey in terms of their activities to ensure healthy, secure and independent living for the elderly people and offer suggestions. In the study using the method of descriptive analysis, which is a type of qualitative analysis techniques, activities for active life were classified within the framework of activity theory. Then one of the main topics of this classification, which constitutes the subject of this study; healthy, secure and independent life activities are discussed in 7 subheadings for both countries. Looking at the findings, there have been significant differences between the two countries, although there are partial similarities in terms of policies, practices and projects. When examining these two countries, which are similar in terms of the number of populations, it has been observed that the activities of Germany, which has an elderly population and engaged in successful activities, can set an example for Turkey in the aging process. However, due to Turkey's social, economic and cultural differences, it is necessary to adapt the activities in Germany in accordance with Turkey’s own internal dynamics. Furthermore, other suggestions that can be applied in Turkey have been made in this study. Comparing Turkey to only one country constitutes the limitation of the study.
