Abstract
Recently, because of people relations‟ getting more and more difficult, presence of a social problem named burnout syndrome has started to catch attention, especially, in the areas where human relations are intensive. Burnout is an occupational hazard that affects individuals, the people they serve, the people around them, the organisations they work in, and in relation to all these, the society. However, not every person gets affected the same amount by burnout. Attitudes of individuals working within the same working environment and under the same circumstances may vary.
Within this context, the target of the research is to determine whether the burnout level changes depending on demographic variables or not. Employees of a participation bank constitute the population of the research. Within the scope of this research, 714 employee of the participation bank has been given a survey. In the research, as a data collection tool, Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), whose effectiveness and reliability has been proved, has been practised; and a survey containing personal information form that has been prepared by the researcher in order to determine the participants‟ demographic features has been included.
As a result of the survey, as well as finding meaningful relations between burnout and some demographic variables, it is seen that, when the burnout levels of participants are evaluated, emotional burnout and desensitisation levels are low and personal success level is high. To sum up, it can be stated that the participants are at low burnout level.
